Where it all began

Restaurant "O Amílcar" opened its doors in May 2000, but its origins go back much further to the warm, family environment of Amílcar's parents' home. On weekends and during holidays, many people would pass through Fajã do Ouvidor and find it an almost unmissable stop, not just for conversation, but also to enjoy the snacks prepared with care and authenticity.

From an open home to a life project

It was that spirit of togetherness, hospitality and good food that sparked the desire to create something greater: a typical, welcoming space with its own identity, where visitors and locals could enjoy a unique view, the closeness of the sea, and a gastronomic offering centred on the best of São Jorge island and the Azores.

A shared mission

Since 2004, this journey has also been shaped by the support of his wife, Eva, who embraced the project with the same vision, dedication and commitment. More than a business, the restaurant became a shared mission, built side by side with constant dedication and a passion for warm hospitality.
